QuizBank Rules and Regulations

There are a few simple rules:

  1. You can only make withdrawals up to the number of deposits you have made.
  2. A withdrawal is defined as requesting to view a new question - your account will be debited even if you decide not to answer the question.
  3. You only have one minute to answer a question. If you take longer then you will not receive a point, even if your answer is correct.
  4. No offensive or adult-oriented questions. The questions must be suitable for a child to read (this doesn't mean you have to make them easy for a child to answer).
  5. Questions are multiple choice. You must provide the question, the correct answer, and three incorrect alternative answers.
  6. Players are responsible for any copyright material contained in questions or answers they submit.
  7. You receive one point for every question that you answer correctly, and one point every time someone fails to answer one of your questions correctly.
  8. There are no prizes, this game is just for entertainment.

Some clarification:

The points system works by giving you a point as soon as another player withdraws your question, and transferring the point to that player if they give a correct answer. It is therefore possible for your score to fluctuate.

Points will be aggregated into tables so you can compare your performance with other players. The exact nature of the tables may vary from time to time.

Fair play is important for this game to remain enjoyable for all. Depositing unfair questions is frowned upon, and may lead to your account being suspended. I am not defining 'unfair' in this context, but it would typically refer to questions that cannot reasonably be answered by someone with an appropriate level of knowledge in that subject area.

Equally, it is not fair to open multiple accounts in the hope of answering your own questions to enhance your score. If I suspect you of doing this then your account(s) will probably be closed.

If you take longer than one minute to answer a question, a note will be made if you answered correctly, for your statistical benefit. The time on the QuizBank server is used to determine how long you took to answer. One minute should be plenty of time, but if your connection seems slow then you may want to wait until later before making your withdrawal. If you wish to risk making a withdrawal when Daylight Saving Time is about to start or end, that's up to you!
